Name: Kestrel. It's in the human language, so it's obviously not her original name.
Race and Class: Night Elf Hunter
Physical description: Dark green hair untidily cut with a knife, facial tattoos faded by extreme age, pale skin covered by a multitude of scars old and new. A wiry sort of skinny, and generally looks like she's been sleeping outdoors in her armour since before she was born. Has animalistic and extremely direct manners, and never looks people in the eye except as a prelude to confrontation or ouright violence.
She is never without arms and armour, or without a young, heavily scarred direwolf. Kes and the wolf seem to manhandle each other casually, regularly, and sometimes even affectionately. People who try to pat the animal generally get bitten (or if Kes is feeling charitable, see her snarl and wrestle the wolf's head around by grabbing his jaw, till he quits trying to bite).
Background: Kestrel speaks very little of her past. She has mentioned a mother, who was no warrior, and her mother's dearest sister, who taught her all she knows of fighting. She has said the teacher's name was Vinga Nightspear, and that she was a Dragon Rider of Loreth'Aran. This implies four things: that she is well over 10000 years old, that she was being trained to be a Dragon Rider, that she is from Silvergale (now Bloodmyst Isle), and that Kestrel - a Common word - is not her original name.
Among the Cenarion Circle, Kestrel is considered a loyal, effective and obsessively dedicated agent. She has a reputation for getting the job done, without fail and by any means necessary, for 7000 years now. This has earned her exactly one bit of special treatment: the Circle will not discuss her past before Hyjal, out of respect to her wishes. (If you think your char should know/find out stuff, ask me.)
Kestrel has few strong opinions about people or things, but the ones she does have are extreme and ground in by time. She makes up her mind quickly, rarely changes it afterward, and has absolutely no respect for emotions of any kind. Not that she hides even her own (though many have assumed she does, because so few things move her) - she just considers actually acting on such things the province of children and fools.
Kestrel's activity in recent years consists of scouting and skirmishing for the Cenarion Circle and Cenarion Expedition, and a few motley others. She has a criminal record in Stormwind, acquired in the course of duty. Right now, most of her time is spent in Gilneas, on the Circle's business, undoing damages of the Worgen curse where possible.
Before, if Kestrel was anything, it was a ferocious and frighteningly single-minded predator, willing to chase any success worth having at the cost of life or limb. This ended when she was almost killed by the Blue dragon Vyragosa. Crippled to the point of not walking comfortably, she has stepped back from the frontline of the Circle's battles, and put her age and experience to use elsewhere.
She tolerates almost any company, but seems to relax with no-one.
Personal notes:
Kestrel has worlds of personal hatred for demons and all descendants of the exiled Highborne, especially those who continue to use magic. She kills them dead, whenever she thinks she can get away with it. With mages, she tends to remove the heart to make sure. She is suspicious of mages in general, though willing to tolerate the ones that are as paranoid about the Arcane as she is - usually Kirin Tor.
Kestrel has an obsession with truth. She deals most easily with people who go to the point, disdains smalltalk and flowert phrases, and outright despises "civilised" manners, which she considers only another way of lying.
Most of the game mechanic hunter spells are in Kestrel's case a very, very crude form of the same sort of nature magic druids use - it's a fair guess she's had training at some point in her life.
Kes has bloodhound quality senses, and claims to hear other things too -- most often the earth, but generally things of nature. She seems physically uncomfortable in Teldrassil and Borean Tundra, claiming one stinks of corruption and the other cries like a hurt thing. The truth of that later part is anyone's guess -- her hyperacute senses seem to relate to the nature magic she uses.
