As our small guild is gathering new people, I thought it'd be a good time to update my views on some OOC policies. These will be modified as necessary if something unexpected comes up.
Our recruitment is slow and we are picky about members; this already gives me quite a lot of trust in people we do take in. I don't think we require many rules and I am open to negotiation about these too. The general thoughts here are "live and let live" and "don't be a jerk". Every offender will be issued a warning before harsher consequences; I hope we will never need to go further than that.
Communication within guild (guildchat, guild forum, mumble)
We do not recruit children, so there is no need to moderate language for their sake. Anyone visiting our guildchat will get used to bad jokes, sarcasm and black humour - but even as we mock each other, do remember that not everyone has such a high tolerance for friendly insults. If you feel someone is crossing a line and you are not having fun anymore, let them know. If you are told you have gone too far, stop and take time to sort out any bad feelings right away.
While the odd joke or for irony's sake is accepted, we would prefer if you could keep your communication as proper english, or any other language we may be talking. We frown on l33tspeak and prefer to keep guildchat clear of SMS language.
We all complain from time to time and the point where it turns excessive is difficult to define but if an officer tells you to can it, take note. Constant whining will not be tolerated for long; try to keep guildchat positive.
We have several quite helpful people. Don't abuse this by begging too much. Show appreciation by helping others in your turn.
Public Conduct
We want our guild tag to be a guarantee of good behaviour. Do not grief the roleplay, PvP or PvE of others; keep criticism constructive and polite; do not initiate public loot drama. Show restraint in public and keep the rants in our own channels.
Random pugger you will never meet again deserves just as much basic respect as your fellow guildies. Keep the public atmospehere constructive and friendly and don't feed the trolls.
Even though this is a roleplay server, there are many who don't rp currently or at all. Live and let live; there is enough space on the server to retreat to our own little corner and ignore the others. The same applies to roleplay you may find objectionable for any reason - if you are not involved, let them be. If you are involved, disengage from the situation and play with someone else instead.
As a special mention, ERP or cybering in public is an offense resulting in guild kick after one warning.
Inactivity
Players who have been inactive for a month without notice may be removed from the guild at the officer's discretion. Such players can ask for a guild invite when they return but if this happens after an exceptionally long period, they may be asked to make a new application.
The Consequences
For guild communication issues, officers may remove the guild chat posting rights / mute the offender on mumble / prevent forum posting after one warning. The length of such muting is at the officer's discretion, though as a guideline we'll start with 3 hours.
For public conduct issues, we give you one warning before removing you from the guild. At an officer's discretion, the offender may instead be given another chance after some time with muted status.
Clarifications
These policies leave a lot of room for officer discretion. If you wish for more clarification, ask us. I will not give examples for every hypothetical case or overrule officer decisions lightly but will however try to keep things fair as best as I can.
